The array is updated with data from the various modules whenever new data is available. To reflect changes on the controls, the sound is constantly recalculated. The effect of the computation, copying, and synchronization is that whenever a change is made it takes a little while before you actually hear the change. Doesn't seem to work in FireFox...

AMIS (Asynchronous Music Information Streams) is a software MIDI interface based on the ideas of granular synthesis. It is not a granular synthesizer which works by means of altering the physics of a sound rather it is a method of organizing MIDI information - based mainly on the asynchronous cloud streams approach of organizing granular synthesis events.
AMIS also requires the CPS Browser plugin as well as Shockwave.
